Prevalence and Etiology of Neonatal Jaundice in a Tertiary Care Hospital

Introduction: Neonatal jaundice is a major clinical condition worldwide occurring in upto 60% of term and 80% preterm newborn the first week life. defined as total serum bilirubin level above 7 mg/dl.
 Aims: This study was done to find out prevalence etiology neonatal neonates admitted Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital (NGMCTH) Kohalpur, Banke.
 Methods: It prospective cross sectional hospital based conducted from November 2018 2019 Hospital. All with hyperbilirubinemia ≥7 mg/dl were subjected complete history taking, through physical examination investigations.
 Results: Out 892 who developed jaundice, 640 whose parents gave consent included study. The found be 39.85% male female ratio 1.79:1. In present pathological seen 74.94% whereas physiological 23.66%. Among various etiologies sepsis (44.52%) most common cause followed by ABO incompatibility (12.18%) Rh (7.03%).
 Conclusion: .The more than neonates. very morbidity NICU especially babies.
